Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department issued a heavy rain alert for north Telangana and forecast widespread rainfall across the state until July 10, with heavy to very heavy showers expected in several districts over the weekend.
According to the department, Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nizamabad and Peddapalli are likely to receive intense rainfall on July 4 and 5. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are expected in these districts during the same period.
Heavy rain alert for northern districts
Officials advised residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions. They urged people to avoid taking shelter under trees, electric poles and hoardings during thunderstorms.
Moreover, authorities asked residents to move to safer locations whenever necessary. The department also forecast light to moderate rainfall across several parts of Telangana between July 6 and July 10.
Officials said Telangana recorded nearly 20 per cent below-normal rainfall during June despite recent improvement in monsoon activity. However, the latest forecast indicates that rainfall activity is likely to increase across the state over the coming days.
