Hyderabad: Farmers gave in-principle consent to the Radial Road-2 land acquisition process after detailed discussions with Rangareddy district officials on compensation for the proposed road project connecting Budwel Outer Ring Road and Nacharam on NH-167N.
Rangareddy District Collector C. Narayana Reddy chaired the meeting on Friday. The discussions focused on land acquisition for the prestigious Radial Road-2 project in the Shamshabad-Shadnagar division.
Farmers from Mutpur, Chukkamet, Ummetyal and Lalapet villages in Kondur mandal and Thummapalli village in Chowderguda mandal attended the meeting. All these villages fall under the Shadnagar division.
Radial Road-2 land acquisition discussed with farmers
Shadnagar MLA Veerlapalli Shankar, Additional Collector (Revenue) Chandra Reddy, Shadnagar Revenue Divisional Officer Saritha, revenue officials and farmer representatives also attended the meeting.
Officials explained the project’s public benefits. They highlighted regional development, better transport connectivity, the land acquisition process and compensation under government rules.
Meanwhile, farmers shared their views, suggestions and concerns. The discussions continued in a positive atmosphere.
Subsequently, the farmers agreed in principle to accept compensation through the proposed Consent Award mechanism. They also agreed to hand over the required land after receiving compensation under the prescribed norms.
Collector C. Narayana Reddy said the government gave the highest priority to protecting farmers’ rights and welfare. Moreover, he assured farmers that officials would conduct the land acquisition process in a transparent and lawful manner.
He added that every eligible farmer would receive compensation under government rules without delay.
Veerlapalli Shankar said the project would give a major boost to the development of the Shadnagar region. Furthermore, he said it would strengthen industrial, commercial and transport sectors.
The MLA also appreciated the farmers for cooperating in the larger public interest.
Finally, officials said the meeting ended with mutual understanding. They added that authorities would complete the land acquisition process quickly and speed up construction of the Radial Road-2 project.
