Koheda fish export hub to create jobs

The government said the project would become Telangana’s first international freshwater fish export centre in an inland state. Additionally, the Centre will provide 60 per cent of the funding under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The State government will contribute the remaining 40 per cent.

According to the government, Telangana produced around 4.20 lakh tonnes of freshwater fish and 15,000 tonnes of freshwater prawns in 2025. The export hub will feature cold storage facilities, processing units, packaging centres, a training centre, customs facilities and a wholesale market.

Furthermore, about 2,000 traders are expected to conduct business at the facility. The project is expected to generate nearly 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in loading, unloading, packaging and transportation.

Moreover, the government said the project would connect Telangana’s fisheries sector with global markets, strengthen the rural economy and create new employment opportunities for youth.
