Telangana DGP directs expansion of police welfare schemes and digital tracking
Hyderabad: The DGP reviewed the Police Welfare Society and the Bhadrata and Arogya Bhadratha wing. He said Telangana police welfare remained his top priority. He announced measures to expand financial assistance, scholarships and digital monitoring for police personnel.
The DGP said police welfare remained close to his heart because personnel work under constant stress. He announced higher scholarships for meritorious children of police personnel. He also promised greater support for JEE and NEET coaching.
Telangana police welfare to expand financial assistance
The DGP directed the Police Welfare Society to increase low-interest loans for eligible personnel. The loans will cover housing, personal, marriage and education needs up to ₹30 lakh.
He also ordered more marriage, medical and education loans. In addition, he approved stronger corpus insurance and grant-based assistance. He said every eligible employee must receive benefits fairly and transparently.
The new Employee Health Scheme now covers benefits that were earlier provided under the Arogya Bhadratha scheme. During 2025, 33,126 beneficiaries received treatment at a cost of ₹181.74 crore. Meanwhile, 12,392 beneficiaries availed treatment up to June 2026. The government spent ₹73.61 crore on their treatment.
The Group Personal Accidental Insurance scheme supports the families of personnel who die while in service. Insurance coverage ranges from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh for IPS officers.
Telangana police welfare to adopt digital management
The DGP directed officials to introduce a digital welfare management system. The system will provide real-time and transparent monitoring of welfare schemes. He also ordered the department to computerise welfare records from the DGP’s office to every district.
He said revenue from police canteens and commercial complexes would strengthen the YIPS initiative. The funds will also support children’s education, competitive exam coaching and marriage assistance.
Furthermore, the DGP said the department had scheduled police association elections after a gap of 14 years. He expressed confidence that the elections would strengthen democratic functioning.
The DGP said he noticed pending station maintenance bills during recent district visits. He said the Finance Department later approved those bills and other routine expenditure. As a result, field officers will receive financial relief.
The DGP reiterated that the welfare of the entire police force would remain his foremost priority.
