Woman rescued after suicide attempt on Bhadrachalam Godavari bridge

Hyderabad: A woman was rescued after an alleged suicide attempt at the Bhadrachalam Godavari bridge on Tuesday. Local residents and motorists intervened in time. They stopped her and alerted the police.

Police identified the woman as Gollamudi Shailaja, 37, from Pogallapalli village in Mulakalapalli mandal.

Bhadrachalam Godavari bridge incident prompts police action

After receiving the alert, Burgampadu Police reached the spot. They shifted Shailaja safely to the police station. Officers counselled her and recorded her statement.

During the inquiry, Shailaja alleged that a property dispute over her residential plot had caused severe distress. She also said ongoing family conflicts had worsened the situation. She alleged that her brother-in-law had encroached on her house site. She further claimed that her husband faced multiple cases, leading to continued harassment.

According to Shailaja, she had sought action from the authorities for the past five months. However, she said she had not received a satisfactory response.

Bhadrachalam Godavari bridge case under investigation

Police registered a case and started an investigation into Shailaja’s allegations. Meanwhile, officers assured her they would examine the matter under the law. They also said they would take appropriate action after completing the inquiry.
