Hyderabad: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao said the Centre was prepared for a NEET Parliament debate and discussions on other public issues during the ongoing Parliament session. He also criticised Opposition parties for disrupting proceedings through protests.
Speaking to a news channel, Raghunandan Rao said Parliament functions according to established rules and procedures. He alleged that Opposition members were forcing adjournments to stage protests and attract publicity.
NEET Parliament debate can take place, says BJP MP
Raghunandan Rao described the NEET paper leak as unfortunate. However, he said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was conducting an inquiry into the matter.
He said the Centre would provide a comprehensive response on the issue in Parliament. Meanwhile, he questioned whether anyone had resigned over paper leaks that occurred in the past.
The BJP MP said the NEET re-examination had already been conducted and the results had been declared. Accordingly, he questioned the Opposition’s demand for an immediate discussion by cancelling Zero Hour, even after the Speaker had agreed to hold a debate on the issue.
NEET Parliament debate should follow House rules
Raghunandan Rao said no government would allow protesters to march to Parliament while the House was in session. He added that preventing demonstrators from reaching Parliament was part of maintaining security and order.
He also rejected allegations linking the BJP to the reported theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Furthermore, he said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was conducting a detailed inquiry into the case.
The BJP MP said the alleged actions of an individual should not be attributed to the BJP or the RSS. He added that every organisation had both good and bad individuals. He also alleged that Opposition parties were targeting the BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections next year.
