CM Revanth Reddy flags off Haj buses, announces relief for Telangana pilgrims

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday flagged off buses carrying Haj pilgrims from Hyderabad Haj House and announced relief for Telangana Haj pilgrims facing additional travel expenses.

Addressing a gathering at the Haj House, the Chief Minister said the Telangana government would bear the additional financial burden imposed on Haj pilgrims following the rise in fuel costs linked to the Iran war situation.

Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi, MLC Riyaz ul Hassan Effendi and MLA Mohammed Jaffar Hussain attended the programme.

Minority Educational Institutions Society President Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi, Haj Committee Chairman Ghulam Afzal Biabani, Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, TGMFC Chairman Obedullah Kotwal and Urdu Academy President Taher Bin Hamdan also participated in the event.

According to the Chief Minister, authorities imposed an additional burden of Rs.10,000 on each pilgrim citing increased fuel prices. He said many pilgrims faced difficulty in paying the amount because of the last-minute decision.

Therefore, the Telangana government decided to bear the additional burden imposed on nearly 7,000 Haj pilgrims from the State.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy extended greetings to pilgrims undertaking the Haj journey. He said the Telangana government would continue to prioritise minority welfare and development programmes.

The Chief Minister said Hindus and Muslims were like “two eyes” to him. He described both communities as brothers and called for collective efforts towards Telangana’s development.

He said the government was implementing welfare and development programmes with participation from minority communities. In addition, he assured minorities that welfare schemes would reach them in proportion to their population.Telangana Haj pilgrims2

Revanth Reddy said Artificial Intelligence was creating uncertainty for white-collar jobs. Therefore, students should focus on acquiring skills that improve employment opportunities.

He advised students to make use of training opportunities available in ATCs, polytechnic colleges and skill universities. According to him, the government was giving priority to skill-based education and training.

The Chief Minister also said countries such as Japan, Germany and South Korea offered significant employment opportunities apart from the United States and Middle East nations. He urged youth to improve their professional skills to secure overseas jobs.

Revanth Reddy also recalled last year’s bus accident during the Haj pilgrimage in which 44 people died. The government provided compensation of Rs.5 lakh each to the affected families, he said.

The Chief Minister said the government was always prepared to address issues faced by minorities and would continue to stand by them during difficult situations.

He added that many people aspire to perform Haj at least once in their lifetime. Revanth Reddy urged pilgrims to pray for Telangana’s welfare and development during the pilgrimage.
