Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) on Thursday launched a month-long Cyber awareness campaign titled Suraksha Ka Tiranga. The initiative aims to make the State cybercrime-free and create awareness about online fraud.
Director General of Police C.V. Anand, along with TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, unveiled the campaign poster at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Banjara Hills. Moreover, the drive forms part of the ongoing “Fraud Ka Full Stop” awareness programme and coincides with National Cyber Jaagrukta Diwas.
The DGP said the campaign drew inspiration from the Indian national flag. Further, he said it encouraged people to stay alert against cyber fraud. He added that the first day saw 722 awareness programmes across all districts. More than one lakh people participated in the initiative.
Cyber awareness campaign reaches every section
Shikha Goel said cybercriminals were adopting new methods as technology advanced. Meanwhile, she warned the public against stock market investment scams and fake business schemes. She also cautioned people against digital arrest frauds, in which criminals threaten victims and extort money.
In addition, she said the first week of the Cyber awareness campaign would focus on students and youth. The second week would target professionals and employees. The third week would cover senior citizens and community organisations. Finally, the last week would focus on reaching every citizen across Telangana with cyber safety messages.
She urged people to verify information before trusting unknown callers or online offers. Therefore, she advised cyber fraud victims to report incidents immediately during the Golden Hour. She said prompt complaints improve the chances of recovering lost money.
