Hyderabad: Telangana and Germany’s Thuringia state signed a Telangana Thuringia MoU on Wednesday to strengthen cooperation in technology, skill development, startups and life sciences.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Thuringia Minister-President Mario Voigt formalised the agreement during a high-level meeting. Ministers D. Sridhar Babu and Vivek Venkataswamy also attended the discussions.
The partnership recognised Telangana’s growing economy and its strengths in information technology, life sciences and advanced manufacturing.
Describing Telangana as a leading centre of progress and innovation in India, Mario Voigt said the state’s growth story occupied a special place in India-Germany relations.
He added that Thuringia wanted deeper collaboration with Telangana. According to him, both sides could create mutually beneficial opportunities through stronger economic and institutional ties.
Telangana Thuringia MoU focuses on future-ready skilling
During the discussions, Revanth Reddy highlighted the need to redesign skill development programmes in response to rapid advances in artificial intelligence.
He said Telangana was focusing on workforce requirements in Germany, Japan and South Korea. Therefore, skill training programmes must adapt to changing global demands.
The Chief Minister sought Thuringia’s support in strengthening the curriculum at Young India Skills University (YISU), Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) and Polytechnic institutions.
In response, Mario Voigt said Telangana and Thuringia could jointly create a customised skilling curriculum. He said industry and academic institutions could support the initiative.
Furthermore, Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of German language training. He said language skills would improve global employment opportunities for Telangana youth.
He requested Thuringia’s support in establishing a German language training hub in Hyderabad. According to him, German industries could outline workforce requirements. Meanwhile, YISU could tailor training programmes to meet those needs.
Telangana Thuringia MoU expands investment opportunities
The Chief Minister also outlined his vision of attracting Fortune 500 companies to Bharat Future City.
Moreover, he highlighted Hyderabad’s business-friendly environment. He noted that the city successfully hosted delegates from more than 100 countries during Miss World 2025 despite geopolitical tensions in the region.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana was ready to deepen collaboration with Thuringia in skilling, innovation and investment.
Mario Voigt proposed an official visit by German semiconductor companies to Telangana. The visit would help both sides explore investment opportunities and industry partnerships.
Welcoming the proposal, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said several leading semiconductor companies already operated in Hyderabad. Additionally, he said Telangana was moving towards semiconductor manufacturing.
Minister Vivek Venkataswamy said the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) had made significant progress in German language training. He also invited the delegation to review skilling programmes at Advanced Technology Centres.
Thuringia State Secretaries Prof. Dr. Teichert and Suckert attended the meeting. Michael Hasper, Consul General at the German Consulate General in Chennai, also participated. Business leaders from optics, photonics, precision engineering, life sciences, medical technology, defence and aerospace sectors joined the discussions as well.
Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B. Ajith Reddy, TGIIC Managing Director K. Shashanka and other senior officials also took part in the meeting.
