Hyderabad: Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Dr Vivek Venkatswamy on Tuesday urged nurses undergoing German language training under the Triple Win Programme to prepare for global careers by improving communication skills and adapting to international work culture.
The minister interacted with trainees during an event organised by TOMCOM at Tourism Plaza in Hyderabad. He said Telangana youth had strong potential to succeed internationally if they approached opportunities with dedication and confidence.
Speaking at the programme, Vivek Venkatswamy said working in Germany offered significant career opportunities but also required adaptation to a new language, environment and professional culture.
He said success abroad could be achieved through hard work and commitment. The minister also praised the contribution of nurses in patient care and recovery.
“Nurses play a vital role in giving confidence and hope to patients. Half the illness disappears with the reassurance provided by nurses,” he said.
German language training seen as key for overseas jobs
The minister said TOMCOM was creating international-level employment opportunities for youth and described the current programme as the beginning of larger initiatives.
He stated that if the present batch performed well in Germany, more overseas opportunities would become available for Telangana youth in the future.
Extending greetings on International Nurses Day, Vivek Venkatswamy described nursing as one of the noblest professions. He advised trainees to focus seriously on German language training, stressing that communication skills were essential in healthcare delivery.
According to the minister, online platforms had made learning foreign languages easier than before. He urged trainees to dedicate at least one hour daily to skill development and language learning.
Recalling his own business experience, he said he faced difficulties while seeking a bank loan in Chennai because he did not know the local language. He said the experience taught him the importance of communication skills.
The minister also referred to Tamil actor Vijay while explaining how technology, communication skills and social media could help individuals achieve success.
German language training programme backed by government
Vivek Venkatswamy said the State Government had allocated special budgetary funds for TOMCOM initiatives. He also assured that he would discuss with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy the proposal to establish more nursing colleges and increase nursing seats in Telangana.
Labour, Employment and Training Commissioner Harichandana also addressed the trainees. She shared her own experience of learning Hindi and said determination was necessary to learn a new language.
She said the State Government and the minister were taking special measures to create overseas employment opportunities for youth. Harichandana added that TOMCOM was working to provide quality international placements.
She said she had spent more than Rs 1 lakh to learn a foreign language in the past, whereas the government was now offering such training free of cost.
Harichandana advised trainees to regularly converse in German with friends and practice the language during free time. She also encouraged them to understand German culture while preparing for overseas employment.
TOMCOM Director Kanthi Wesley said the organisation had signed an agreement with Germany’s Federal Employment Agency. He said 46 nurses had completed German language training so far.
According to him, 15 nurses had received offer letters while seven were already working in Germany. During the programme, the minister also interacted online with nurses currently employed in Germany and enquired about their experiences.
He asked them to inform the government about any problems or requirements faced while working abroad.
