CM Revanth Reddy announces EV retrofit plan for Hyderabad autos

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday announced a government-funded plan to convert Hyderabad autos into electric vehicles.

He said the Hyderabad autos EV retrofit initiative aimed to reduce pollution levels in the city. The project will also reduce fuel expenses for auto drivers.

According to the Chief Minister, the government was holding discussions with five companies to implement the project in the core urban region.

Authorities will retrofit existing petrol and diesel autos with electric engines using government funds, he said.

Revanth Reddy made the announcement while attending a programme at Hyderabad Haj House to flag off buses carrying Haj pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said Artificial Intelligence was creating uncertainty for white-collar jobs. Therefore, students should focus on acquiring practical skills that improve employment opportunities.

He advised students to use training opportunities available in ATCs, polytechnic colleges and skill universities. According to him, the government was giving priority to skill-based education and training programmes.

The Chief Minister also said countries such as Japan, Germany and South Korea offered significant employment opportunities apart from the United States and Middle East nations.

He urged youth to improve their professional skills to secure overseas jobs.

Revanth Reddy said the government was implementing welfare and development programmes with participation from minority communities. He also assured minorities that welfare schemes would reach them in proportion to their population.

The Chief Minister described Hindus and Muslims as “two eyes” and called for collective efforts towards Telangana’s development.

Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali, MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi, MLC Riyaz ul Hassan Effendi and MLA Mohammed Jaffar Hussain attended the programme.

Minority Educational Institutions Society President Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi, Haj Committee Chairman Ghulam Afzal Biabani, Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, TGMFC Chairman Obedullah Kotwal and Urdu Academy President Taher Bin Hamdan also participated in the event.
