Hyderabad: A Tesla EV showroom is planned in Hyderabad after Tesla India representatives met Telangana government officials on Friday.
Tesla India officials held talks with Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu regarding sales and service operations in the city. During the meeting, the company expressed interest in expanding its presence in Hyderabad.
Sridhar Babu said Telangana had developed a strong ecosystem for electric vehicles and intelligent mobility technologies. He added that the state had become a hub for semiconductor design, automobile software, electronics engineering and deep technology sectors.
The Minister congratulated Tesla India General Manager Sharad Agarwal and Lead Public Policy and Business Development Director Rajat for choosing Hyderabad for expansion. He said Tesla had already opened four showrooms in other parts of India.
However, Sridhar Babu said Tesla did more than manufacture electric cars. He stated that the company also led innovation in electric vehicle software, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, robotics and battery technology.
Tesla EV showroom matches Telangana technology growth
Meanwhile, the Minister said Telangana’s technology ecosystem matched Tesla’s long-term innovation goals. He added that semiconductor companies in Hyderabad were developing advanced chips and sensors for smart mobility and EV technologies.
Sridhar Babu said electric vehicles accounted for only around four per cent of India’s automobile market. Therefore, he noted that the sector still had major growth potential.
He said the Telangana government aimed to increase EV adoption across the state. In addition, the government wanted to position Hyderabad as a global centre for clean technology and advanced mobility solutions.
The Minister invited Tesla representatives to explore opportunities for ancillary industries in Telangana. He also assured full government support for investments in technology and industrial sectors.
Government IT Advisor Sai Krishna, TGIIC Managing Director Shashank, Industries Commissioner Nikhil Chakravarthy and Special Secretary Raghurama Sharma attended the meeting.
