Hyderabad: The Higher Education Council announced the completion of the DOST third phase seat allotment process, with 93,516 candidates securing seats in degree colleges across Telangana. Higher Education Council Chairman V. Balakishta Reddy and Commissioner of Collegiate Education Sridevasena released the allotment details on Thursday and asked allotted candidates to complete online self-reporting by July 2.
Officials said students who secured seats in any of the first three phases and completed online self-reporting must report physically to their respective colleges between June 27 and July 4 to confirm their admissions.
By the end of the first three rounds of counselling, 1,56,531 students had secured admissions against 3,70,509 seats available in 780 degree colleges under the DOST admission system.
DOST third phase admissions show strong demand for commerce
Commerce remained the most preferred stream this year. A total of 52,167 students enrolled in B.Com courses. This was followed by 34,194 admissions in B.Sc. Physical Sciences, 28,000 in B.Sc. Life Sciences, 22,704 in B.A., 11,969 in B.B.A., and 2,059 in B.Sc. Group courses.
Government autonomous colleges continued to attract the highest demand. Out of 45,060 seats in 36 government autonomous colleges, 39,098 seats were filled. In comparison, 26,016 students secured seats out of 50,940 available in 116 government colleges.
Private colleges recorded 70,471 admissions against 2,47,040 seats in 580 institutions. Meanwhile, five private autonomous colleges filled 4,612 seats out of 7,490 available.
Despite three rounds of counselling, 2,13,978 seats remained vacant across the state, leaving nearly 58 percent of the total intake unfilled.
