ACB books suspended Tahsildar in disproportionate assets case

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against suspended Tahsildar and Joint Sub-Registrar Thummakomma Sucharita of Shamirpet mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Investigators alleged that she amassed assets far beyond her known sources of income through corrupt practices during her service.

The ACB conducted searches at her residence and three other locations linked to relatives, benamis and associates. During the searches, officials detected assets worth about ₹5.05 crore.

The seized assets included 2 acres and 17 guntas of agricultural land in Siddipet district, three flats in Hyderabad, two plots at Keesara and Khanamet, cash of about ₹12 lakh, bank deposits of ₹38 lakh, gold and diamond ornaments worth ₹1.20 crore, and two cars, including a Volkswagen and a Hyundai Creta.

Disproportionate assets case under further investigation

ACB officials said the market value of the immovable properties was likely to be much higher than their documented value. They added that verification of the assets was continuing.

Earlier, authorities arrested Sucharita in a separate bribery case. Investigators alleged that she demanded a bribe of ₹30 lakh and accepted ₹2 lakh as part payment. She remains in judicial custody while the investigation continues.
