Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir reviewed a ₹5-crore school redevelopment plan during a visit to his alma mater, Zilla Parishad Boys High School in Kamareddy, on Monday.
The old school building will make way for a new structure with modern educational facilities. Shabbir Ali had raised the school’s requirements with the Chief Minister and facilitated the sanction of ₹5 crore.
During the visit, Shabbir inspected the old building and spent time in the classroom where he had studied. He also met former students and classmates and recalled his school days.
Shabbir said he studied at the institution in 1971. He added that he had wanted to contribute to the school’s development for a long time.
“This is the school where I studied. It is not just an educational institution for me, but the place where the foundation of my life was laid. My journey began here, and I have always wanted to do something for this school,” he said.
The former minister said meeting former classmates again at the same premises after several years was a memorable experience. He also interacted with them about their well-being and recalled their teachers and childhood experiences.
School redevelopment to bring modern educational facilities
The school redevelopment will focus on more than constructing a new building, Shabbir said. The project will also improve facilities in line with present-day educational standards.
The proposed infrastructure includes modern laboratories, computer labs and digital classrooms. Other educational facilities will also form part of the project.
Shabbir said he was extending financial support from his own resources wherever necessary for the institution’s development.
He said he was happy that the school would soon receive a modern building. However, he described the demolition of the old structure as an emotional moment because of its connection to his childhood.
“The building will change, but the memories this school has given me will never change,” he said.
Former students appreciated Shabbir Ali’s efforts to secure funds for the institution. They also welcomed the planned improvements for present and future students.
Municipal Chairperson Umarani Srinivas, town Congress president Aireni Sandeep and Library Chairman Maddi Chandrakanth Reddy attended the programme. Kailasa Srinivas, Mohammed Ilyas, Pandla Raju, former students and others also participated.
