Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said Telangana Rising had set the State on the path to becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2034. He said the government was strengthening infrastructure, promoting investments and expanding industrial policies to achieve the target.
Addressing the Amara Raja Giga Corridor event, the Chief Minister described Amara Raja as a globally competitive company. He noted that the company had established its first unit in Chittoor in 1983. Further, he said it was now competing with leading global manufacturers in the electric vehicle (EV) battery sector.
Revanth Reddy said climate change and pollution had made clean mobility a necessity. Accordingly, he stressed the need to promote electric vehicles to reduce pollution. He also noted that erratic rainfall under El Niño conditions had affected farmers.
The Chief Minister said Amara Raja’s Divitipalli unit employed around 700 people. Besides, he noted that nearly 400 of them are women, describing it as a strong example of women’s empowerment.
Telangana Rising backed by industrial growth and EV investments
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had retained and strengthened several industrial policies introduced by previous governments. He added that the administration had also unveiled industrial, tourism and health policies under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.
The Chief Minister said Telangana contributes around five per cent to India’s GDP. However, the State accounts for only 2.5 per cent of the country’s population. He said the government aims to raise Telangana’s GDP contribution to 10 per cent by 2047 while building a $1 trillion economy by 2034.
Moreover, Revanth Reddy said the government was improving infrastructure by developing CURE, PURE and RARE growth zones. He said transparent policies and better infrastructure would attract more industries and create employment.
Calling himself “a son of Palamuru,” the Chief Minister said the government was transforming Mahabubnagar into a model district. Today, he said, the district had moved beyond its drought-hit image and was witnessing rapid progress.
He said the government had established IIITs, engineering colleges, Advanced Technology Centres and Young India Integrated Schools in the district. In addition, it was strengthening polytechnics and skill development centres to prepare youth for blue-collar jobs.
Further, Revanth Reddy said the government was completing the Kalwakurthy, Bhima, RDS and Nettampadu irrigation projects. At the same time, discussions with the neighbouring State were progressing to secure 90 TMC of water for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. The government was also pursuing a 30 TMC allocation for the Dindi project.
Finally, the Chief Minister urged Amara Raja to provide maximum employment to families that had given land for its projects. He also acknowledged former minister Galla Aruna for sanctioning roads in Kodangal during her tenure as Roads and Buildings Minister.
