KTR questions Rahul Gandhi over Telangana youth promises

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the implementation of Telangana youth promises. He alleged that the Congress government had failed to honour its commitments to unemployed youth and warned that voters would hold the party accountable.

KTR made the remarks while addressing the Yuva Sangrama Sadassu at Saroor Nagar Stadium on Friday.

He recalled the Congress’ Youth Declaration, which Rahul Gandhi unveiled at the same venue three years ago. Accordingly, he asked why the party had not fulfilled its major commitments.

Telangana youth promises dominate KTR’s speech

Addressing Rahul Gandhi, KTR referred to his interaction with unemployed youth at Ashok Nagar. He asked what had happened to the promise of providing two lakh government jobs in the first year.

He also questioned the status of the promised Job Calendar and the ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance. In addition, he sought clarification on commitments related to electric scooters for college girls, interest-free loans for youth and other assurances in the Youth Declaration.

KTR also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence over the alleged police action against unemployed youth who protested for jobs in Telangana. Furthermore, he asked why Rahul Gandhi had not responded to allegations of lathi charges, arrests and criminal cases against job seekers demanding implementation of the Congress’ promises.

Telangana youth promises become political issue

KTR alleged that the Congress’ Youth Declaration had become a “declaration of betrayal.” Moreover, he claimed Telangana’s youth had written the party’s political death declaration because it had failed to deliver on its employment commitments.

The BRS leader also criticised the state government over employment generation. KTR claimed there were “no notifications, only lootifications” and alleged that the government had become preoccupied with scams and corruption instead of creating jobs. He further alleged that Telangana was witnessing a “scam calendar” rather than a governance calendar. He also accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of focusing more on the Congress leadership than on employment opportunities.

Finally, KTR challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to substantiate the government’s claim that it had filled 70,000 government jobs through fresh recruitment notifications. He said he would permanently retire from politics if the Chief Minister proved the claim with evidence.
