Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) registered two cases and apprehended three persons during an H-FAST food safety drive at two fast food centres in Chandrayangutta.
H-FAST conducted the inspections jointly with the Commissioner’s Task Force and GHMC Food Safety officials on July 17. During the drive, officials found several food safety violations at both establishments.
H-FAST food safety drive uncovers major violations
Officials found unhygienic food preparation practices at the outlets. They also detected the use of reused cooking oil, artificial food colours and unsafe food handling methods.
In addition, inspectors found no pest control records or water quality certificates at the establishments.
The enforcement drive covered Al-Madina Chinese Fast Food Center and Omer Chinese Fast Food Center.
Officials seized about 20 litres of reused cooking oil and 10 litres of fresh cooking oil. They also seized nearly 40 kg each of fried chicken and raw coloured chicken. Moreover, they confiscated synthetic food colours during the operation.
H-FAST food safety drive leads to legal action
Officials handed over the seized material and the three accused to Chandrayangutta Police Station for further legal action.
Meanwhile, police urged people to avoid unhygienic food outlets. They also appealed to citizens to report food adulteration or unsafe food practices to H-FAST’s toll-free helpline at 8712661212.
