Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) launched a special initiative to strengthen SCCL coal production and maintain coal quality amid rising electricity demand linked to prevailing El Niño conditions.
Accordingly, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti appointed Special Officers for each Area. He asked them to strengthen coal production and ensure uninterrupted supplies of coal that matched the declared grade.
SCCL coal production drive focuses on quality
The Special Officers will monitor coal production, quality, grade protection, dispatch and productivity for the next three months. In addition, they will oversee process improvements, efficiency measures, coordination between Area and Corporate departments, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
The CMD reviewed coal production, coal quality, grade protection and dispatch during a video conference with all Area General Managers from Singareni Bhavan on Saturday.
Buddhaprakash Jyoti said coal quality remained the hallmark of SCCL. Therefore, he directed officials to take strict measures to ensure consumers received coal that conformed to the declared grade.
SCCL coal production strategy strengthens mining operations
The CMD instructed officials to carry out mining operations seam-wise under the Annual Coal Gradation Plan. Moreover, he directed every Area to ensure that coal production matched the declared grade.
He instructed officials to clean coal benches thoroughly before blasting in off-loading areas. Further, they must maintain adequate distance between coal benches and overburden benches.
The CMD also directed officials to excavate rock and shale separately without mixing them with coal. They must dump the excavated material only in overburden dumps. Additionally, he instructed every Area to implement Standard Operating Procedures for coal gallery housekeeping and fiery coal management.
Buddhaprakash Jyoti also directed officials to install adequate numbers of crushers in all opencast mines and Coal Handling Plants (CHPs). Finally, he instructed them to keep the crushers operational at all times.
