Cyberabad Police rescue kidnapped girl, bust child trafficking racket

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police rescued a three-year-old girl and busted an alleged child trafficking racket after tracing a kidnapping case registered at Chandanagar Police Station. Police arrested three accused before they could allegedly sell the child in Mahabubnagar.

The girl’s mother, a street vendor, filed a complaint on July 16 after her daughter went missing from a pavement near Lingampally Railway Station. Immediately, Chandanagar Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Child trafficking racket uncovered through coordinated investigation

Under the supervision of ACP Ch. Y. Srinivas Kumar, special police teams conducted an extensive search across Cyberabad, Vikarabad and Mahabubnagar districts. Inspector S. Vijai of Chandanagar Police Station, Detective Inspector G. Rajesh of Narsingi Police Station and Inspector Bhoopal Goud of CCS, Serilingampally Zone, led the investigation.

Meanwhile, the teams used technical analysis, scientific investigation and sustained field operations to trace the accused. They rescued the child safely and arrested all three suspects before the alleged sale could take place.

The arrested accused are Kothi Srinivas, 36, Doma Rama Krishna, 23, and Paladhi Navaneetha, 31.

Child trafficking racket linked to illegal adoptions

Police said the investigation revealed that Navaneetha worked as a staff nurse and laboratory technician at a private diagnostic laboratory in Mahabubnagar.

According to investigators, she allegedly developed contacts with childless couples seeking babies through illegal means. Police alleged that she used her access to hospitals and information about pregnant women and newborns to build a network of intermediaries involved in the illegal procurement and trafficking of infants.

Further, investigators are examining the wider trafficking network and its financial links.
