Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Safety Wing rescued five women from trafficking and detained 18 people in a series of operations this week. The drives aimed to protect vulnerable groups across different police limits.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) filed four cases under the PITA Act in Gachibowli, Madhapur, and Narsingi. It rescued five victims and arrested six accused. Night raids in Jeedimetla, Kukatpally, KPHB, and Narsingi led to the detention of six trans persons and 12 sex workers.
Officials also held awareness drives on issues such as trafficking, child labour, stalking, and cybercrime. They informed participants about helplines—181 for women, 1098 for children, and 1930 for cyber fraud. About 150 people attended these sessions.
SHE teams conduct 135 decoy operations
The SHE teams carried out 135 decoy operations and booked 44 people for indecent behaviour in public. All offenders faced petty cases and underwent counselling. Twelve women filed complaints through different channels during the week. The teams also organised 72 awareness sessions and three counselling programmes.
The Family Counselling Centre and the Counselling and Domestic Empowerment of Women (CDEW) centre helped 38 families resolve marital disputes through mediation.
