Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will chair a high-level review meeting on Medigadda barrage inflows at the Telangana Secretariat at 12 noon on Sunday. He will assess the latest water inflows and review the state’s monsoon water management strategy.
The meeting will take place in the minister’s chamber. Principal Secretary E. Sreedhar and senior Irrigation Department engineers will attend.
Medigadda barrage inflows remain under review
The minister will examine water inflows into the Medigadda Barrage. He will also review water availability, storage levels and reservoir management.
Meanwhile, the government will assess its preparedness for the ongoing monsoon. It will also discuss contingency measures to ensure efficient use of available water resources.
The minister will direct officials to continuously monitor inflows, reservoir levels and water availability. This will help the department make timely decisions during the monsoon.
The government said it was giving priority to irrigation needs and adequate drinking water supplies across the state. In addition, the meeting will discuss ways to maximise the use of every available drop of water.
Officials will also examine measures to prevent lapses in water management. Finally, the government said it would continue monitoring the Medigadda Barrage while keeping farmers’ interests and public water security as its top priorities.
