Hyderabad: Telangana has sought greater German semiconductor investments as the State works to establish itself as a semiconductor manufacturing hub.
IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu made the appeal to the German Indian Business Alliance (GIBA) during a meeting at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Monday.
A GIBA delegation led by Kelsterbach Mayor Manfred Ockel met the Minister. During the discussion, Sridhar Babu outlined investment opportunities across several sectors.
These included semiconductors, life sciences, aerospace and defence, electronics, advanced manufacturing, precision engineering, automobiles and automation.
The Minister said the Telangana government would extend support to companies seeking to establish operations in the State. This would include faster approvals, infrastructure, investment incentives and skill development.
He also highlighted Telangana’s talent pool and industrial ecosystem. At the same time, he said the State wanted to leverage Germany’s expertise in advanced technology, precision engineering and advanced manufacturing.
German semiconductor investments could strengthen Telangana’s industrial base
Sridhar Babu urged GIBA to encourage German companies to consider Telangana for semiconductor manufacturing projects. He said stronger participation from German industry could support the State’s efforts to build the sector.
The Minister also proposed a Telangana-Germany logistics corridor. Such a corridor, he said, could facilitate the movement of goods and improve access for Telangana exporters to Germany and wider European markets.
Furthermore, Sridhar Babu asked GIBA representatives to promote the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2026 among German industrialists. The summit is scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9.
He urged the delegation to encourage German companies and business representatives to participate in the event.
The meeting was attended by GIBA chairman Selvakumar Periasamy, CEO Nirmal Raman Kannaiyan and Innovation Hub Rhein-Main CEO Stefan Witkindt.
FTCCI representatives K.K. Maheshwari, Srinivas Garimella, Vinod Kumar Agarwal and Lokesh Fatehpuriya also participated in the meeting.
The State government will continue to seek German semiconductor investments alongside opportunities in advanced manufacturing and other technology-driven sectors.
