Waliullah Sameer accuses BJP of manufacturing communal tension in Telangana

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Mohammed Waliullah Sameer on Saturday accused the BJP of attempting to manufacture communal tension in Telangana by exaggerating isolated incidents and organising politically motivated protests to create unrest.

Sameer alleged that recent developments involving educational institutions and religious sensitivities reflected a coordinated attempt to disturb peace in the State. He said some incidents required legal action, while others were minor and had already been addressed by the police and the authorities concerned.

The Waliullah Sameer BJP allegations stated that the party was trying to mobilise protests, circulate provocative narratives and convert local disputes into communal confrontations instead of allowing police to complete investigations.

According to Sameer, political workers entered an educational institution and demanded access to confidential student records while attempting an unofficial inspection. He also alleged that activists entered another school and assaulted a member of the teaching staff. He said such actions amounted to taking the law into their own hands.

Waliullah Sameer BJP allegations over schools

Sameer also referred to a recent classroom assignment controversy. He said the school management acted immediately against the teacher concerned and police took precautionary measures to maintain peace. However, he alleged that BJP leaders attempted to magnify the issue and provoke religious sentiments despite the corrective action.

He said educational institutions should not become political battlegrounds. Political organisations, he added, had no authority to enter schools or colleges, intimidate staff, inspect confidential records or perform the role of law enforcement agencies.

Furthermore, Sameer said issues relating to citizenship, refugees, foreign nationals and documentation fell under the jurisdiction of competent State and Central government authorities. Political workers could submit complaints, but they could not conduct raids or vigilante operations, he added.

Waliullah Sameer BJP remarks on law and order

Sameer praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, for maintaining law and order. He alleged that the BJP was attempting to damage the Chief Minister’s image by creating a perception of administrative failure because it could not challenge the Congress government politically.

He further alleged that the BJP followed a pattern of identifying local disputes, giving them a religious colour, amplifying them through social media and organising protests to create communal tension.

Sameer urged police to take firm and impartial action against anyone involved in trespass, intimidation, assault, circulation of provocative content or attempts to disturb communal harmony, regardless of political affiliation or religious identity.

He also appealed to the public not to believe unverified social media posts or participate in politically sponsored demonstrations designed to provoke confrontation.

Sameer reiterated that Telangana, particularly Hyderabad, had a long tradition of communal harmony. He said the Congress government would neither tolerate injustice against any community nor allow political organisations to misuse sensitive issues to incite violence or disturb peace in the State.
