Hyderabad: Forest officials suspended tourist visits to Bogatha Falls flooding on Thursday after heavy rain caused the popular waterfall to overflow in the Cheekupalli forest area of Vajedu mandal in Mulugu district.
Heavy rainfall increased the water flow across the Telangana Niagara, sending water surging beyond the selfie viewpoint and into the swimming pool area. As a result, officials stopped visitor entry from the afternoon as a precaution.
The decision came after water levels rose rapidly, creating unsafe conditions around the tourist site. Therefore, authorities restricted public access to prevent accidents while the flooding continued.

Meanwhile, some tourists alleged that officials asked them to leave even after they had purchased entry tickets. They also claimed the authorities did not respond when they requested a refund.
However, Range Officer in-charge Narender denied the allegations. He said visitors were allowed to view the waterfall before officials asked them to leave. Furthermore, he said the evacuation followed instructions issued by higher authorities to ensure public safety.
Bogatha Falls, popularly known as the Telangana Niagara, attracts large numbers of visitors during the monsoon. However, officials often suspend tourism activities when heavy rainfall causes dangerous water levels around the waterfall.
