Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharshan Reddy said the SIR process to revise electoral rolls has no connection with welfare schemes implemented by the state government.
During a video conference with District Election Officers and District Collectors on Wednesday, Sudharshan Reddy reviewed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He said the exercise aimed to prepare an error-free electoral roll. According to him, the process has no link to any government welfare programme.
The CEO noted that only five days remained for submitting Enumeration Forms. Therefore, he directed all District Collectors to complete 100 per cent digitisation by August 3.
SIR process digitisation reaches 76 per cent
Sudharshan Reddy said officials had completed 76 per cent of digitisation across the state. Meanwhile, rural areas achieved 90 per cent progress.
He commended officials in the Khanapur, Balkonda, Yellareddy, Huzurnagar, Narsampet, Wardhannapet, Parkal and Boath Assembly constituencies. They completed the digitisation process in full.
Further, the CEO instructed District Election Officers to speed up work in urban areas. He identified Serilingampally, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, the GHMC limits and the urban regions of Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam as priority areas.
He directed Booth Level Officers and supervisors to upload voters’ details accurately while digitising Enumeration Forms. In addition, he asked Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to closely monitor the work and prevent errors.
Finally, Sudharshan Reddy warned that he would initiate disciplinary action against Booth Level Officers and supervisors if they carried out the digitisation process negligently.
