Hyderabad: The ACB Special Court will begin hearing the Formula E race case on Friday (July 31). The court has directed all five accused, including former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), to appear in person for the first day of the trial.
The other accused are former IAS officer Arvind Kumar, former HMDA Chief Engineer BLN Reddy, sports consultant Kiran Malleswara Rao, and UK-based Formula E Operations (FEO) representative Alberto Longo. The court issued summons to them on May 14.
Since this is the first hearing, every accused must remain present before the court. Therefore, the proceedings will begin with the completion of mandatory legal formalities.
Personal bonds required in Formula E race case
None of the accused has been arrested in the case so far. Consequently, they must submit personal sureties and execute personal bonds before the court during Friday’s proceedings.
Meanwhile, the ACB Special Court will complete these procedures before moving ahead with the trial. Further hearings will continue according to the court’s schedule after the initial formalities conclude.
The Formula E race case relates to alleged irregularities connected with the conduct of the Formula E event. However, the court is scheduled to examine the matter through the trial process beginning on July 31.
