Hyderabad: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said officials had wrongly included some private properties in the Telangana 22-A land prohibited list. He assured affected owners that the government would correct the errors and protect genuine private properties.
Speaking at the Secretariat on Monday, Ponguleti said the government had no intention of interfering with people’s properties. Therefore, he urged property owners not to panic over the issue. “Interfering with people’s properties is not our government’s policy. There is no need for anyone to worry,” he said.
The minister said the government had received 750 complaints over private properties appearing in the prohibited list. Of these, around 500 came from Medchal and another 100 from Rangareddy. The government had also received complaints from Hyderabad.
Telangana 22-A land complaints under scrutiny
Ponguleti said the government had conducted inquiries into cases involving prime areas across four districts. He said authorities wanted to ensure that the process did not affect even one square yard of genuine private property.
Around 350 complaints from the erstwhile Rangareddy district involved EC properties, according to the minister. Meanwhile, several disputes concerning properties in the prohibited list remained before the High Court.
Ponguleti said officials had made mistakes in some areas. In addition, problems arose because authorities had failed to upload some court orders online. “We are rectifying the errors committed by officials. Genuine cases will be resolved soon,” he said.
The minister reiterated that the government would take responsibility for providing relief to genuinely affected property owners.
Telangana 22-A land panel to address grievances
Ponguleti apologised to people who had faced difficulties because of the 22-A issue. He also criticised attempts to provoke people over the controversy. However, he maintained that the government would address genuine grievances.
The minister warned officials against making affected people repeatedly visit government offices. He said the government would take strict action against officials who forced people to run from one office to another for Telangana 22-A land corrections.
Furthermore, Ponguleti announced plans to constitute a high-level committee to resolve 22-A cases. The government also established a toll-free mechanism for genuine complaints. Ponguleti asked affected property owners to lodge their grievances through 18005-994788.
He assured owners that genuine cases would receive attention and that officials would rectify errors involving private properties.
