Telangana SIR 2026 draft rolls released, parties urged to join review

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy released details of the draft electoral rolls under Telangana SIR 2026 on August 17. He also urged recognised political parties to actively participate in reviewing the rolls and filing claims and objections.

The CEO met representatives of recognised political parties and briefed them on the Special Intensive Revision exercise. During the meeting, Sudarshan Reddy said officials had successfully completed the enumeration phase. The exercise ran from June 25 to August 10, 2026.

Officials collected 2.65 crore Enumeration Forms from electors during this phase. This accounted for 78.30% of the total electorate, according to the CEO. He also presented details covering deceased electors and voters who had permanently shifted. In addition, officials identified electors who remained unavailable or absent during the exercise.

The presentation also covered other categories and electors whose names appeared on voter lists at more than one location. Sudarshan Reddy briefed political parties about preparations for publication of the draft electoral roll.

The Telangana SIR 2026 claims and objections phase began on August 17. It will continue until September 16, 2026. Therefore, eligible electors can use this period to raise claims or objections concerning the draft rolls.

The CEO gave party representatives a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the SIR process. Moreover, he answered questions raised by representatives of various political parties. He also received suggestions from the representatives and said election officials would examine them.

Subsequently, election authorities provided recognised political parties with copies of the draft electoral rolls through hard disks.

Telangana SIR 2026 review seeks party participation

The CEO appealed to all recognised political parties to participate actively in scrutiny of the draft electoral rolls. He also sought their involvement throughout the claims and objections process.

Sudarshan Reddy stressed the need to ensure that no eligible elector remained outside the voter list. Consequently, he sought cooperation from political parties to improve the accuracy of the electoral rolls.

He said participation from all stakeholders would help make the voter list comprehensive, transparent and free from errors. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vasam Venkateshwar Reddy attended the meeting. Additional Secretary to Government and MNO N. Shankar also participated.

Deputy CEO (FAC) G.S. Chari, PM (IT) nodal officers and other officials from the Telangana CEO’s office attended the meeting. Election authorities will continue the claims and objections process until September 16 as part of the revision exercise.
