Hyderabad: The CMC Commissioner directed departments to examine Gandipet civic issues on priority after residents raised concerns over sewerage, drinking water, roads and sanitation.
The Commissioner interacted with residents, Residential Welfare Association representatives and local representatives under the “One Ward Every Day” programme. The interaction was held at the Community Hall in Khanapur and focused on basic amenities and long-pending requirements across Gandipet Ward.
Residents raised problems involving underground drainage and sewerage systems. In addition, they brought drinking water supply and road conditions to the Commissioner’s attention. Concerns involving storm-water drains and lakes were also discussed during the interaction.
Gandipet civic issues include sanitation and streetlights
Residents raised several other Gandipet civic issues, including sanitation, mosquito control and stray dog problems. They also sought improvements to streetlights and community facilities. Moreover, graveyard development requirements were brought before the Commissioner.
The interaction covered concerns that extended beyond basic municipal services. Residents raised Town Planning issues and complained about unauthorised constructions in the ward. Illegal dumping was another concern brought to the Commissioner’s notice.
In addition, participants highlighted requirements related to education infrastructure and pensions. They also raised other long-pending civic needs requiring action from the departments concerned.
Gandipet civic issues marked for priority action
The Commissioner took note of the grievances presented by residents and local representatives during the ward visit. Subsequently, the departments concerned were directed to examine the issues and initiate necessary action on priority.
The Commissioner asked officials to focus particularly on improving basic civic amenities in Gandipet Ward. Departments were also told to address long-pending problems highlighted during the interaction at Khanapur.
The programme provided residents and RWA representatives an opportunity to directly place local problems before civic authorities. The Commissioner’s directions covered sewerage, water supply, roads, drainage, sanitation and other Gandipet civic issues raised during the meeting.
