Revanth lays foundation for Amazon data centre, invites ₹1 lakh crore investment

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for an Amazon data centre in Future City. He invited the company to invest ₹1 lakh crore in Telangana by 2034. He said the project would encourage more industries to invest in the upcoming integrated township.

The Chief Minister attended the ceremony along with IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari, Legislative Council Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLA Mal Reddy Rangareddy and senior officials.

Revanth Reddy said the government had organised the Telangana Rising Global Summit in December 2025. The event aimed to attract Fortune 500 companies to Future City. He said delegates from 108 countries and more than 3,000 corporate representatives had attended.

He said Telangana aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047 under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision. The government also plans to increase the State’s contribution to India’s GDP from five per cent to 10 per cent.

Further, Revanth Reddy said investments and job creation were essential to achieving the State’s economic targets. He assured investors that the government would provide infrastructure, approvals and all necessary support.

The Chief Minister urged Amazon to invest ₹1 lakh crore in Telangana by 2034. Meanwhile, he said the government would conduct monthly reviews to monitor the company’s investment progress.

The State has introduced dedicated policies for industry, tourism, energy, healthcare and sports under the Telangana Rising framework, he said. In addition, the government established the Young India Skill University to prepare youth for future jobs.

According to the Chief Minister, Hyderabad has emerged as a national model with the Outer Ring Road, IT and pharma sectors and an international airport. He added that the government was improving urban infrastructure and creating a pollution-free city.

Further, Revanth Reddy said the government was restoring the Musi River and expanding the Metro Rail network. It was also encouraging electric mobility. He said the State had exempted electric vehicles from registration tax despite losing around ₹1,500 crore in annual revenue.

The government also plans to convert RTC buses into electric buses. It is promoting the retrofitting of diesel-powered autorickshaws into electric vehicles. He said these measures would help prevent pollution-related problems seen in other metropolitan cities.

Finally, the Chief Minister said the State had adopted a development strategy by dividing Telangana into CURE, PURE and RARE zones. He thanked farmers who had given land for Future City, the Regional Ring Road and radial roads.

Revanth Reddy directed officials to resolve pending issues raised by affected farmers through discussions. He also instructed them to ensure better compensation and create employment opportunities for families that had parted with land for development projects.
