Hyderabad: The Telangana government has extended the deadline for Cheyutha pension applications for new social security pensions to September 15, 2026.
The Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) issued the extension through a circular on August 31. The revised deadline gives eligible and vulnerable persons additional time to submit applications.
Earlier, the government had set August 31 as the last date for receiving applications under the Cheyutha Pension Scheme. The authorities have now extended the deadline by 15 days.
The SERP Chief Executive Officer issued the circular after a meeting with a civil society organisation on August 31. Following the decision, SERP instructed District Collectors to take the necessary steps.
Officials will also have to publicise the extended deadline widely. The instructions seek to ensure that eligible beneficiaries do not miss the opportunity to apply.
Cheyutha pension applications open until September 15
Eligible persons can submit Cheyutha pension applications until September 15, 2026. District officials will facilitate the process during the extended period.
SERP has directed District Collectors to ensure that the information reaches eligible and vulnerable applicants. Officials will coordinate with local departments to support the application process.
The circular also covers officials of GHMC, municipal corporations, rural development departments, medical and health departments and municipalities.
In addition, SERP has issued the directions to district rural development officials, district medical and health officers and mandal-level officials.
The revised deadline applies to the current process for sanctioning new pensions under the Cheyutha Pension Scheme. Officials will take steps to receive applications from eligible persons until September 15.
SERP has asked the concerned authorities to ensure wide dissemination of the new deadline. The Cheyutha pension applications process will continue through the extended date.
