Hyderabad: The Chalo Hyderabad protest will be held on September 10 with 1 lakh government employees, the Telangana Gazetted Officers Association said. The association demanded implementation of pending employee demands and assurances.
The announcement came during an expanded TGO executive meeting held on Sunday at Atmeeya Bhavan in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. State president Eluri Srinivasa Rao chaired the meeting, while general secretary B. Shyam opened the proceedings.
Presidents, secretaries and women’s wing representatives from various districts attended the meeting. Meanwhile, the members unanimously approved several key resolutions concerning government employees and pensioners.
The association expressed anger over the delay in submitting the Pay Revision Commission report. It said three years had passed and demanded immediate implementation of the PRC with 42% fitment.
In addition, the TGO demanded immediate release of all six pending dearness allowances. The association also sought the removal of technical problems affecting the health scheme for new employees.
It demanded easier access to health cards and treatment at hospitals. According to the association, steps should be taken to ensure employees can download their health cards without technical difficulties.
Chalo Hyderabad protest to highlight pending employee demands
The Telangana Gazetted Officers Association also demanded an increase in funds released for pending bills of employees and pensioners. It sought an increase from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,000 crore per month.
Separately, the TGO called for the cancellation of the Contributory Pension Scheme. It requested the government to restore the old pension system for employees.
The association also sought restoration of recognition for employee associations. It further demanded special casual leave for office-bearers and restoration of exemption circulars related to transfers.
Following the meeting, the TGO appealed to employees to make the September 10 Chalo Hyderabad protest successful. The programme will focus on securing action on the pending demands and assurances raised by the association.
