Hyderabad: The Bachupalli car fire case led to the arrest of real estate businessman Ashok Reddy on Sunday, September 6. Bachupalli police and SOT teams arrested him after intensifying their investigation into the incident.
The case involved a Fortuner car that was set on fire at GPR Venture in Bachupalli. Police said the accused poured petrol on the parked vehicle and deliberately set it ablaze on September 3.
According to police, Ashok Reddy allegedly committed the act to intimidate the victim. The dispute reportedly involved the purchase and sale of real estate plots and related business transactions.
Following the victim’s complaint, Bachupalli police and SOT teams rushed to the scene. Investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and used it to identify the accused.
Police subsequently took Ashok Reddy into custody. They also seized the BYD car that he allegedly used during the crime.

The investigation focused on the alleged dispute between the accused and the victim over real estate transactions. Police said the incident was intended to intimidate the victim during the dispute.
Meanwhile, officers clarified that the incident had no political angle. The Bachupalli car fire case remained linked to the reported real estate business dispute, according to the police.
The arrest followed an investigation that began after the victim approached police. CCTV footage helped investigators identify the accused, while the vehicle allegedly used in the incident was seized as part of the case.
