Hyderabad Police launches Generative AI system for CAR duty allocation

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police on Tuesday unveiled a Generative AI-based duty allocation system for the City Armed Reserve (CAR) unit, replacing the manual process with an efficient, transparent, and data-driven model.

Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar, IPS, launched the AI system, which was developed in just two months. He said the initiative would reduce administrative burden and help officers focus more on core policing duties.

AI eliminates manual bias, enables instant communication

The new system uses the “Hungarian Method” to allocate duties based on objective parameters such as seniority, reserve days, discipline, health status, and service rewards. This approach eliminates bias and ensures fairness.

It also features an AI chat assistant that provides real-time answers to allocation queries, reducing training needs and improving clarity. Additionally, the platform auto-generates personalized official duty letters using OpenAI APIs, eliminating manual paperwork.

In its first run, the system processed 1,796 personnel applications to fill 208 CAR positions across critical categories including the Secretariat, CM Office, Traffic, and Interceptor vehicles.

“Our goal is to leverage the power of AI to handle administrative complexities, allowing our police force to focus entirely on their core duty of policing,” said Commissioner Sajjanar.

He also acknowledged the contribution of Sri Trinath Babu and Sri Sunil Regula of Hansa Equity Partners LLP, who helped develop the system.

At the launch event, CAR constables received their new duty orders, generated through the AI platform.

Senior officers including Additional Commissioners M. Srinivas, IPS, and Tafseer Iqbal, IPS, Joint Commissioners D. Joel Davis, IPS, and Swetha, IPS, and CAR DCP R. Venkateshwarlu, IPS, were present, along with DCPs from all zones and implementation team members.
