Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare Dr. Dansari Anasuya Seethakka on Wednesday inaugurated the World Peoples Assembly representative office in Hyderabad. She attended the event along with the organisation’s head, Dr. Rayala Neethu Naidu.
Addressing the gathering, Seethakka said the long-standing friendship between India and Russia reflected mutual trust, respect and cooperation. She recalled the support extended by the erstwhile Soviet Union for India’s industrial development after Independence.
The Minister said the Soviet Union had contributed to the establishment of steel plants, heavy industries and public sector undertakings. Moreover, she noted that the Soviet Constitution had inspired the concept of fundamental duties incorporated into the Indian Constitution.
Seethakka said India-Russia ties had continued to expand across defence, science, space, technology, energy and education. She also said Russia had set an example by ensuring a significant role for women in political and social life.
World Peoples Assembly expected to boost cooperation
The Minister said the Telangana government was giving top priority to women’s economic empowerment. Further, she said the government was strengthening self-help groups, supporting women entrepreneurs and creating employment opportunities.
Seethakka expressed confidence that the World Peoples Assembly office would open new avenues for cooperation in education, healthcare, business, tourism, culture, research and innovation. She added that it would also promote stronger people-to-people exchanges.
Describing Hyderabad as a city known for its historical heritage and technological advancement, Seethakka said the representative office would strengthen ties between India and Russia. She also assured full government support for initiatives promoting international friendship, peace, development and cultural understanding.
