Director stresses workplace integrity at SCCL
Addressing employees, Venkateswarlu said vigilance formed an essential part of an organisation’s governance system. However, he noted that some employees continued to hold misconceptions about the role and functioning of vigilance mechanisms.
He said Vigilance Awareness Week provided an opportunity to address these misunderstandings and improve awareness among employees. According to him, vigilance should not create unnecessary fear among staff members who performed their duties honestly.
Instead, employees should recognise its role in promoting ethical conduct and preventing irregularities. Venkateswarlu assured employees that those who discharged their responsibilities with honesty had no reason to fear vigilance proceedings.
He also encouraged staff to cooperate with the Vigilance Department when reporting suspected irregularities. Venkateswarlu appreciated the commitment and honesty demonstrated by SCCL employees in their professional responsibilities.
He said their dedicated efforts had helped the public sector coal company overcome financial difficulties. Additionally, he described SCCL as one of the country’s most transparent public sector organisations.
He urged employees to work collectively to maintain the company’s reputation and strengthen accountability across its operations. The Director emphasised that workplace integrity at SCCL required consistent ethical conduct from employees at every level.
He also linked organisational transparency with the responsibility of individual employees to perform their duties without compromising established standards.
Vigilance awareness aims to address misconceptions
Venkateswarlu said the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week aimed to create a better understanding of vigilance among employees. He stressed that vigilance should be viewed as an integral component of effective governance rather than merely a mechanism for investigating wrongdoing.
Furthermore, he encouraged employees to identify and report irregularities through the appropriate departmental channels. He said greater awareness would help employees understand their responsibilities and strengthen transparency within the organisation.
The Director reiterated that honest employees need not fear vigilance action while carrying out their official duties. He also called for collective efforts to protect SCCL’s reputation through responsible conduct, honesty and cooperation with vigilance authorities.
