Hyderabad: Telangana government courts have become the focus of fresh criticism from the BRS over alleged contempt cases and judicial directives.
The BRS accused the Revanth Reddy government of adopting a confrontational approach towards the judiciary. The party also alleged that officials were implementing disputed decisions without using their discretion.
According to the BRS, courts have repeatedly raised concerns over government and administrative actions. The party claimed officials from senior levels to Tahsildars have faced court proceedings.
The BRS also alleged that contempt cases have increased under the Congress government. It claimed more than 5,000 contempt cases were pending in courts during the Congress rule.
The party further referred to earlier judicial criticism involving Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. It alleged that the Supreme Court had reprimanded him over remarks in the past.
The BRS also cited the Kancha Gachibowli case in its criticism. It claimed the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary faced strong observations from the judiciary over the matter.
Telangana government courts face BRS allegations over compliance
The BRS alleged that officials have repeatedly appeared before courts for nearly two and a half years. It accused the government of ignoring judicial directions in several matters.
Meanwhile, the party claimed some officials had reduced their role to approving government decisions. It alleged that such conduct weakened administrative discretion and contributed to contempt proceedings.
The BRS said courts had issued directions to address these concerns. However, it alleged that the government had not responded adequately to those judicial interventions.
The party also criticised officials who allegedly acted arbitrarily while following the government’s position. It claimed this approach had contributed to a growing number of contempt cases.
According to the BRS, the dispute between the government and judiciary has also affected welfare programmes. The party alleged that some schemes had faced delays because of the government’s handling of legal issues.
The BRS described the developments as evidence of administrative failure under the Congress government. These claims represent the party’s political assessment of the government’s relationship with the judiciary.
