Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (HUMTA) on Wednesday reviewed key initiatives to strengthen Hyderabad’s Transport system through integrated planning, improved infrastructure and better coordination among government departments.
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, IAS, and Hyderabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, IPS, chaired the Working Group-2 meeting. HUMTA Managing Director B. Jeevan Babu convened the meeting.
The meeting focused on strengthening inter-departmental coordination to improve transport infrastructure across the city. Moreover, officials reviewed measures aimed at creating a smarter, safer and more connected network for commuters.
Discussions also covered road safety, traffic management and infrastructure development to ensure faster, safer and more convenient travel for citizens.
Transport system plans focus on safer roads
Officials stressed that an efficient Transport system depended on close coordination among civic agencies and transport departments. Further, they emphasised integrated planning to improve connectivity and support Hyderabad’s growing mobility needs.
The participants also discussed commuter-friendly infrastructure and measures to enhance seamless travel across the city. They said coordinated planning would help deliver long-term improvements in urban transport services.
GHMC, MMC and CMC Zonal Commissioners attended the meeting along with senior officials. They participated in detailed deliberations on strengthening the Transport system and improving mobility across Hyderabad.
