Hyderabad: The State Government decided to sanction new Cheyutha pensions to eligible people from vulnerable sections on priority in the first phase. The deadline for receiving Cheyutha pension applications was fixed as August 31, 2026.
Eligible categories included single women, widows, persons with disabilities, toddy tappers and weavers. Filaria patients would also qualify under the identified categories. In addition, people affected by Thalassemia, Sickle Cell Disease and Haemophilia could apply under the Cheyutha Social Security Pension Scheme.
Authorities would process applications already received through Praja Palana, 99-Day Pragathi Pranalika Gram Sabhas and Prajavani through the Cheyutha portal. Therefore, applicants who had already submitted applications with the required documents did not need to apply again.
Cheyutha pension applications can be filed through multiple channels
Eligible people could submit fresh applications through Panchayat Secretaries, Ward Officers and Mandal Parishad Development Officers. Municipal Commissioners would also receive applications in their respective areas.
Similarly, applicants in Municipal Corporation areas could approach Deputy Commissioners. People could also submit Cheyutha pension applications through MeeSeva. Those whose earlier applications required additional documents could use the same channels to submit the necessary records.
District Collectors would facilitate the issuance of required certificates and ensure proper verification of applications. Moreover, Self-Help Group Federations would assist eligible widows and single women. They would help them obtain the required certificates and submit their applications.
Authorities would first enter application details online and conduct field verification. Subsequently, the departments concerned would provide confirmation wherever required. District Collectors would then scrutinise the applications and approve eligible cases.
Cheyutha pension applications to undergo field verification
After approval, authorities would generate online pension sanction proceedings. They would then distribute the proceedings to beneficiaries according to the prescribed protocol.
The Commissioner instructed all Deputy Commissioners and Project Officers to create public awareness about pension sanctions and eligibility. For this purpose, officials would use the services of RPs, SLFs and TLFs to reach potential beneficiaries.
District authorities also received instructions to ensure timely receipt and accurate data entry of Cheyutha pension applications. Furthermore, they had to complete verification and prepare final lists of eligible beneficiaries for pension sanction.
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and SERP CEO and MEPMA Managing Director Divya Rajan reviewed implementation of the scheme. They held a meeting at the GHMC Head Office with Deputy Commissioners, Project Officers and Tahsildars of Hyderabad district.
The meeting focused on implementing the Cheyutha Social Security Pension Scheme and completing the application, verification and sanction process within the prescribed schedule. Eligible applicants seeking new pensions had until August 31, 2026, to submit their applications.
