Hyderabad: Cheyutha pension applications reached 1,61,752 across Telangana by the 20th, according to the latest information. Widow pension requests made up the largest share of the applications received under the scheme.
Of the total applications, 1,08,571 sought widow pensions. The remaining applications came from single women seeking financial assistance, persons with disabilities, handloom workers and toddy tappers.
The state government has been implementing the Cheyutha scheme to provide social security to eligible beneficiaries. Meanwhile, Hyderabad received the highest number of applications among all districts.
Cheyutha pension applications show strong demand in Hyderabad
Hyderabad district received 9,568 applications, putting it at the top of the list. Medchal-Malkajgiri followed closely with 9,426 applications.
Nalgonda received 8,361 applications, while Rangareddy recorded 7,510. Medak stood next with 7,400 applications.
At the other end, Mulugu recorded the lowest number of applications at 1,505. However, officials said the application process would help identify eligible beneficiaries at the grassroots level.
Once the verification process ends, the government will sanction pensions to eligible applicants. Officials said the process would play an important role in extending social security to those who qualify.
