Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday reaffirmed his party’s commitment to the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. Marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, he highlighted initiatives launched under the KCR-led government and criticised the Congress for not fulfilling its promises. Indeed, KTR supports persons with disabilities through various programs.
KTR noted that the previous BRS government had implemented a monthly disability pension of ₹4,016, distributed free assistive devices, and increased job reservations for persons with disabilities from 3% to 4%. These changes show that KTR supports persons with disabilities in the state.
He accused the current Congress government of failing to deliver on its commitments, which included raising the pension to ₹6,000, providing free RTC bus travel, and filling pending government vacancies reserved for persons with disabilities.
KTR assured that BRS would continue to advocate for stronger protections, better access, and equal opportunities for disabled citizens. With KTR supporting persons with disabilities, he emphasised that support for this community remained a priority for his party, regardless of electoral outcomes.
