Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan on Monday announced the cancellation of KBR Park works proposed under the H-City project. He said the decision would save the civic body approximately ₹400 crore.
Karnan made the announcement during an inspection of the KBR Park–Jubilee Hills Check Post stretch. He said the existing one-way traffic system around the park would now become permanent.
The decision changes the traffic management plan for the busy corridor around KBR Park. Meanwhile, the GHMC will focus on new connectivity measures to improve traffic movement in the area.
As part of the revised plan, the civic body will construct a six-lane steel bridge. The bridge will connect Nagarjuna Circle with Jubilee Hills Check Post.
According to Karnan, the bridge has a targeted completion date of October 2027. The project is intended to strengthen connectivity along the high-density corridor.
The Commissioner also announced plans for an underpass near KBR Park. The facility is expected to ease congestion and improve the movement of vehicles around the area.
KBR Park works replaced by bridge and underpass plans
The cancellation of the proposed H-City works will retain the one-way traffic arrangement around KBR Park. GHMC will instead pursue the steel bridge and underpass as key measures for traffic management.
The six-lane bridge will provide a direct connection between Nagarjuna Circle and Jubilee Hills Check Post. Its planned completion in October 2027 will form part of the civic body’s revised connectivity approach.
Karnan said the changes were aimed at improving traffic flow along the high-density corridor. The underpass near KBR Park will provide an additional route for vehicles and help ease congestion.
The GHMC Commissioner made the announcements while reviewing the KBR Park–Jubilee Hills Check Post stretch. The inspection covered the traffic management framework and proposed infrastructure changes in the area.
