Hyderabad: The Telangana government has revised the designs of the seven steel flyovers and underpasses planned to provide a permanent solution to traffic congestion around KBR Park, scrapping the earlier proposals and changing the scope of works under Package-1 and Package-2. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan issued GO Ms No. 927 to this effect on Tuesday, approving the revised scope of the Rs 1,020 crore works.
Under the revised order, a new steel flyover linking the Jubilee Hills check post junction to Mufakham Jah College and connecting to Banjara Hills Road No. 1 has been allotted to the project contractor, Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL). The government cancelled the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) issued earlier to KNR Constructions Limited and approved the refund of the deposits the firm had paid at the time of the tender.
The government also cancelled the grade separator works proposed at the Panjagutta crematorium and NFCL junctions. These include the proposed 3-lane uni-directional flyover at the Panjagutta crematorium junction, the 2-lane uni-directional flyover at NFCL junction and the 2-lane uni-directional underpass at Banjara Hills. The order also drops the underpass and flyover works proposed from NFCL junction to Banjara Hills and at the TV9 junction–NFCL stretch.
The revised plan provides for a flyover from the Jubilee Hills check post to Mufakham Jah College, along with a connecting ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1. The scope of works at the KBR Park entrance and Mugdha junction has been changed, as has the scope at Road No. 45, Film Nagar, Maharaja Agrasen junction and near the Cancer Hospital junction.
Package-1 estimate revised to Rs 365.85 crore
For Package-1, covering the works proposed at the Jubilee Hills check post, KBR Park entrance and Mugdha junction, the revised IBM estimate has been fixed at Rs 365.85 crore, 13.56 per cent higher than earlier. The total sanctioned cost of the package stands at Rs 580 crore.
Under Package-2, the project scope covering Road No. 45, Film Nagar, Agrasen junction and the Cancer Hospital has been revised, with the plan now changed to build the stretch from Mugdha junction to Mufakham Jah College and Banjara Hills Road No. 1. The revised IBM estimate for this package is Rs 349.31 crore, 28 per cent higher than before, and the total sanctioned project cost has been finalised at Rs 510 crore.
The government directed officials to place the revised Package-1 and Package-2 proposals before EPC Committee-3 for examination. The services of the project management consultants (PMC) will continue as before to supervise the works under both packages. According to the order, the government approved the design changes and the fresh orders after examining a report submitted by the GHMC Commissioner.
