Hyderabad: Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Saturday urged immediate dispatch of pending urea supplies to the state, citing rising concerns among farmers due to delayed delivery.
At a review meeting held at the Secretariat, the Minister met with RFCL CEO Alok Singhal and NFCL Telangana Sales Manager Rajesh. He pointed out that 62,473 metric tonnes of urea owed to Telangana had not yet been received from RFCL.
“The delay is causing serious inconvenience to farmers,” Tummala said. He called on RFCL to take urgent steps to ensure the fertilizer reaches the state before crop damage occurs. He also stressed that the entire pending quota must be delivered.
Tummala asked the firms to send at least 50 percent of the required urea within this week, either from RFCL or NFCL. He further directed that distribution should begin immediately to prevent any disruption at the ground level.
Responding to the appeal, RFCL CEO Alok Singhal assured the Minister that the urea would be dispatched soon. He added that steps were underway to meet the state’s needs without further delay.
The Minister informed that 42,000 metric tonnes of urea were currently in stock across the state. An additional 6,543 metric tonnes would arrive by Saturday, with another 37,877 metric tonnes expected before month-end.
He reiterated that regular consultations with suppliers were ongoing and advised farmers not to panic.
