Hyderabad: The Indiramma Indlu Towers scheme has received 35,125 applications for 7,340 flats across 16 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
Housing Board Vice-Chairman V.P. Gautam said applicants could submit their forms until August 10. He urged eligible people to use the remaining two days to apply for the scheme.
The Telangana government plans to build one lakh houses under the scheme. As a pilot project, officials are taking up 500 houses in each constituency.
Applications for 7,340 flats under the pilot phase are being collected through a demand survey. The flats are coming up in 16 Assembly constituencies.
The scheme aims to provide affordable homes to low-income families in developed areas. Gautam said the government had designed it to help people who find home ownership difficult.
The flats are being constructed on valuable land in the respective constituencies. However, the government will offer them at a substantially lower price for beneficiaries.
According to Gautam, similar flats could cost between ₹30 lakh and ₹58 lakh in the open market. The government will allocate these flats for ₹6 lakh.
Beneficiaries will also receive registration for the houses. Moreover, the scheme will allow people to own homes within the constituencies where they currently live.
This will help applicants avoid moving away from their existing areas in search of affordable housing. The government introduced the scheme as a welfare measure aimed at improving living standards.
Applicants do not need to submit caste or income certificates while applying. In addition, those who do not receive a flat will get their ₹10,000 deposit refunded.
Indiramma Indlu Towers lottery likely from August 20
The Housing Board has started work on the allotment process while continuing to receive applications. Officials have tentatively decided to begin the lottery process from August 20.
At the same time, the Housing Board has started the tender process for construction of the towers in the respective areas. Gautam said the department had prepared a plan to complete all the houses within one year.
The Housing Board will proceed with allotments after completing the application process. Meanwhile, construction-related preparations will continue in parallel.
The scheme covers 16 constituencies, with applications varying across locations. Kukatpally recorded the highest number of applications at 5,233.
Khairatabad received 4,394 applications, while Quthbullapur recorded 4,121. Nampally received 3,613 applications and Malakpet recorded 2,846.
Serilingampally received 2,530 applications. Amberpet recorded 2,357, while Rajendranagar received 1,496.
Secunderabad Cantonment received 1,374 applications. Bahadurpura recorded 1,135, while Medchal received 1,153.
Sanathnagar received 1,046 applications and Malkajgiri recorded 1,033. Ibrahimpatnam received 749 applications, while Maheshwaram recorded 471.
Karwan received 1,574 applications. Overall, the 16 constituencies accounted for 35,125 applications for the 7,340 flats.
Gautam asked people interested in the scheme to complete their applications before the August 10 deadline. He also said applicants could contact the Housing Board call centre for clarification.
