Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao urged party leaders and workers to focus on the Phase-2 SIR process as the August 10 deadline approaches.
Rao made the call while addressing a State-level workshop on the Special Comprehensive Revision at Visvesvaraya Bhavan in Khairatabad on Saturday.
He asked BJP leaders and workers to ensure that every eligible person registers as a voter. In particular, he directed party cadres to speed up Form-6 applications for new voters in every constituency.
Only two days remained for the registration process to close, he said. However, Rao clarified that important tasks would continue after the deadline.
These tasks include reviewing draft notifications, identifying fake votes and filing objections. Party workers will therefore have to remain alert during the subsequent stages.
Phase-2 SIR process requires vigilance from BLAs
Rao asked Booth Level Agents-1 and BJP legal teams to closely monitor Form-7 applications for voter deletions. Similarly, he directed them to scrutinise Form-8 applications seeking corrections.
He also asked the teams to respond to official notices with appropriate evidence. In addition, they should examine the polling booth rationalisation process carefully.
Rao stressed that transparency in electoral rolls was essential to protecting democracy. He urged BJP representatives to discharge their responsibilities effectively during the revision exercise.
BJP State General Secretary and SIR State Convenor Vemula Ashok attended the workshop along with other party leaders.
