Telangana employment portal links job seekers with local industries

Hyderabad: Employment and Training Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy launched a Telangana employment portal in Medak district to connect students and job seekers directly with local industries seeking skilled workers.

Vivek launched the portal at Muppireddypally village on Monday. He described it as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country to bridge the gap between industries and students.

The minister said more than 1,000 industries operated in the region and needed skilled manpower. Therefore, the portal sought to match their workforce requirements with local job seekers. He credited the district administration and industry owners for jointly developing the initiative.

Telangana employment portal targets skilled labour demand

Vivek said unemployment remained a major challenge both locally and across the country. At the same time, industries faced shortages of workers with the required skills.

He said the Telangana government had facilitated overseas employment opportunities through TOMCOM. However, he stressed the need to supply trained workers to industries operating within the State.

The Telangana employment portal aimed to address that requirement by creating a direct connection between job seekers and employers. Vivek also referred to investments secured through the Telangana Rising Global Summit organised by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

He said the summit had secured investments worth Rs 5 lakh crore. Consequently, the industries linked to those investments would require skilled manpower. The minister urged students to explore employment beyond the software industry.

“Students should not focus solely on the software sector, as excellent opportunities exist in many other fields,” Vivek said.

Language training supports overseas employment

Vivek said the government had provided German and Japanese language training to help young people secure higher-paying employment. He cited German language training underway in the Mandamarri area of the Singareni region.

According to the minister, students there had reached B2 proficiency in German. He said employment opportunities offering salaries of Rs 25 lakh awaited those candidates. Moreover, the government had agreed to bear up to half of their visa-related expenses.

“Going abroad for work can uplift the lives of many families,” Vivek said. The minister said overseas employment remained one avenue for addressing unemployment. Meanwhile, local industries also needed a steady supply of skilled workers. He said the new portal would help connect those two sides of the regional employment market.

Telangana employment portal widens job opportunities

Vivek said students needed to consider opportunities across multiple industries instead of concentrating only on software jobs.

The government had combined skill development and foreign-language training with overseas placement support, he said. In addition, the new portal focused on employment opportunities available closer to home.

The initiative sought to help industries identify suitable workers while giving students and job seekers direct access to local employment opportunities. Vivek, who also held the Mines and Geology portfolio, said the portal represented a joint effort by government authorities and industry owners.

He maintained that building a skilled workforce would become increasingly important as new investments translated into industrial activity and employment demand.
