No fuel shortage in Telangana, supplies doubled: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said there was no fuel shortage Telangana, assuring that petrol, diesel and domestic LPG supplies remained adequate.

After reviewing the situation with oil marketing companies on Wednesday, he said fuel availability had increased sharply. Moreover, he urged people to avoid panic buying and ignore rumours.

He said daily petrol supply in Telangana rose from about 6,400 kilolitres to 10,300 KL. Similarly, in Hyderabad, supply increased from around 3,200 KL to nearly 6,400 KL.

Diesel supply in Telangana rose from about 8,000 KL to between 15,500 and 19,300 KL. Meanwhile, Hyderabad’s diesel supply increased from around 2,700 KL to nearly 5,060 KL.

Fuel shortage Telangana fears addressed with higher supply

Out of around 4,325 fuel stations, only 106 reported temporary shortages. However, officials are addressing these issues quickly.

Most fuel outlets will be restocked by evening. Therefore, supply gaps will likely close within hours.

Kishan Reddy said India has ample petroleum reserves with uninterrupted movement from refineries and imports. In addition, he said supply chains remain stable across regions.

Fuel shortage Telangana rumours trigger panic buying

He said misinformation about possible price hikes triggered panic buying. As a result, long queues formed at fuel stations and people stored fuel unsafely.

The Centre directed oil marketing companies to expedite supplies and release additional stock. Further, it asked them to prioritise retail consumers and essential services.

“There is no nationwide shortage of petrol, diesel, or domestic LPG. The Central Government, in coordination with state governments and oil companies, is taking all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply. I urge citizens not to panic, not to hoard, and to rely on official information,” he said.
