Kishan Reddy slams Congress over arrest of BJP social media head

Hyderabad: Union Minister and BJP Telangana president G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday condemned the alleged midnight arrest of the party’s social media convenor, terming it an unlawful act aimed at silencing opposition. In a strong rebuttal, Kishan Reddy slams Congress for what he perceives as attempts to undermine democratic processes.

In a post on the X platform, Reddy accused the Congress government of carrying forward the “oppressive mindset” that he claimed was previously displayed by the BRS regime. He questioned the credibility of Telangana as an investment destination while its government, he said, resorts to arbitrary arrests over political posters.

Arrest sparks political backlash amid global summit

Reddy said the Congress-led administration under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was acting like a “trigger-happy, intolerant dictator.” He warned that such actions undermine democratic norms and harm the State’s international reputation, particularly as it hosts a global summit to attract investors.

“The people of Telangana will not forgive the Congress government’s Emergency mindset and dictatorial attitude,” he wrote, accusing the ruling party of suppressing dissent.

The BJP leader’s remarks came in response to what the party described as a politically motivated police action against its digital wing during a major international investment event in Hyderabad.
